  • March 1985: Emirates Airlines was launched.
  • October 1985: Emirates operated its very first flights from Dubai to Mumbai and Karachi, when a Boeing 737 and an Airbus 300 B4 were wet‑leased from Pakistan International Airlines.
  • 3 July 1987: Emirates first owned aircraft, Airbus A310-304, was delivered. 
  • By the end of the 1980s: Emirates grew a network of 14 destinations in just 5 years of operation. 
  • 1992: Emirates raised the standards of inflight entertainment facilities by becoming the first airline to install video systems in all seats, regardless of the cabin class, across the entire fleet. Emirates Baggage Allowance

  • First Class: Passengers flying on Emirates Airline are allowed to carry checked baggage with weight up to 50 kgs, and two pieces of carry-on baggage weighing no more than 7 kgs for each piece.
  • Business Class: Emirates Business Class Passengers are allowed to check in up to 40 kgs, and two carry-on baggage weighing no more than 7 kgs for each piece.
  • Economy Class: Passengers are permitted with checked baggage of 20 to 35 kgs (depending on the price of the selected ticket), plus one carry-on piece with 7 kgs maximum weight.

Emirates Check-in Information

Passengers can check in online 48 hours ahead of departure. Check-in at the airport is also accessible. Simply, passengers can drop their bags at the self-check-in kiosks/ desks. Passengers flying from Dubai can drop off their bags 24 hours before departure, or 12 hours before departure if flying to the US. 

The boarding pass must be present at most airports, either in hard or soft copy. 
Please note that you need to arrive at the airport as early as possible to present your travel documents and be at the gate on time.
