Historical Highlights:

  • In 1962: Kuwait Airlines took the lead regarding jet aircraft when leasing the world's first jet-engined plane, Comet 4-C.
  • In the 1960s: As part of expanding the airline network, flights to London were scheduled 3 times/ week.
  • In 1968: 3 Boeing 707s were delivered.
  • 10 years later: Kuwait Airways owned a fleet of 8 Boeing 707s.​
  • In 1978: Kuwait Airways received 2 B747-200s and another one a year later, which enabled the airline to extend its network to include New York and Manila. 
  • In 1980-1981: 4 B727-200s were delivered.

Unfortunately, Kuwait airways premises and 15 aircraft were destroyed during the Iraqi invasion. Yet, the airline was relaunched after the liberation of Kuwait. Until 1998, the airlines further expanded to include a 17- aircraft fleet.

Kuwait Airways Check-in Information

Online check-in is available through Kuwait Airways official website for most destinations.  For this service, you must enter family name, flight number, booking confirmation, and passport information.

Passengers are eligible for online check-in when carrying a valid confirmed e-ticket. The check-in is available between 24 and 3 hours before departure time. Check-in online allows passengers to view/change seats, print, or download the e-ticket/boarding pass.

Passengers must arrive at the departure lounge check-in desk at least 90 minutes before departure time when traveling from Kuwait airport and 2 hours from other airports.  The e-receipt, along with baggage receipt, if applicable, must be present in order to obtain the boarding passes.

Airport Check-in

Check-in is also available upon arrival at the airport. Check-in desks typically open 3 hours before flight departure and close 1 hour before departure time. However, make sure to check each airport’s specific timings.
