Baggage Allowance for Wizz Air

Types of baggage 

• Carry-on baggage (Hand carry bag)

These pieces of baggage are featured with limited weight and dimension and are to be carried in with the passenger in the cabin in the overhead compartment.

• Checked luggage 

It is the type of baggage that you will hand at the checked baggage counter to calculate its weight and dimension, then it will be stored in the cargo compartment after adding the label with all passenger information.

• Infant baggage 

Infant baggage has its own policy, it differs from one airline to another, yet there are exceptions related to infant baggage weight. 

• Special Baggage

Airlines set policies for the baggage with different sizes and shapes, differ in weight, and where to be stored either in the cabin or cargo compartment.

• Each passenger is allowed to carry on piece of the hand baggage, after adding WIZZ priority passenger can carry an extra trolly bag with specific dimensions and the maximum weight is 10kgs 
• Passengers can purchase up to 3 bags from the call Wizz Air call centre or from the official website, then three pieces more could be added extra at the airport.
• Passengers shall purchase an extra free allowance prior to the flight departure by 3 hours and pay online or pay at the airport while they arrived, yet the fare in the airport is higher than the online purchase 

Passengers can carry additional items that are allowed by Wizz Air like 

• a coat or blanket
• mobile phone
• reading material for the flight
• for children younger than two: food for the duration of the flight and a foldable baby stroller or a small crib (can be taken until the aircraft door or steps)
• a pair of crutches for physically disabled passengers

Infants Baggage 

Wizz Air offers an extra free allowance for those who are travelling with infants on-board

• Free car seat on board for infants only if you purchase an additional seat (take a car seat onboard)

Excess baggage 

Wizz Air offers new features and keeps facilitating the process of baggage shipping. Passengers can travel with all pieces of baggage, yet they are requested to pay an extra charge at the airport.

Wizz Air has no liability in case of losing one of the below items in the checked baggage 

• cash, securities
• jewellery, precious metal, precious and semi-precious stones
• computers, cameras, video cameras, mobile phones or other electronic appliances and their accessories
• official, business or private documents
• travel or other identity documents
• keys
• liquid
• medicine
• pieces of art and fine art
• perishable items

Restricted items

• likely to endanger the aircraft, persons or property
• likely to be damaged during transportation by air
• unsuitably packed items
• forbidden by any applicable laws, regulations or orders of any state to be flown from, into or over
• not suitable for carriage because of its weight, size or any other unusual characteristics
• likely to cause discomfort or disgust to those on board
• firearms, ammunition and explosives including weapons of hunting or sporting purposes
• any items or substance that looks like a firearm, ammunition or explosive
• flammable substance (except alcoholic beverages, hair spray, perfume, cologne)
• radioactive materials
• condensed gas (except CO2 used for moving artificial limbs; containers of inflammable gas used for self-inflating lifejackets);
• poisonous or infectious substances
• corrosives (except mercury in thermometers, barometers and in wheelchair batteries)
• briefcases and security type attaché cases with built-in alarm devices, lithium batteries or pyrotechnical material
• items and materials that endanger safety, property, life, health and bodily integrity of those on board
• any material that is forbidden under the rules and regulations of the countries affected by the carriage
• any item that is not suitable for carriage because of its weight, size or any other characteristics
• remains of human bodies
• any glue or paint
• any items specified in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations

Special baggage 

Wizz Air offers to transport the different special baggage under a specific fee policy for each kind 

1. Sporting equipment 

Allowed items that Wizz Air accept to transport 

• ski, snowboard, surf equipment, and golf bags packed in a pouch
• jumping poles can only be accepted for carriage if packed in textile sacks
• bicycles packed in a bicycle travel case with the wheels and pedals removed and handlebars turned parallel or packed in cardboard, provided that the tyres are deflated
• diving equipment with empty diving cylinders, removed power source or bulb switches secured in the "OFF" position
• antlers and trophies with a valid veterinary certificate 

Passengers should make sure of the proper packaging of their equipment, and check the applied fees from the official website

2. Musical instruments 

• Wizz Air accepts musical instruments on board with 80 cm, other dimensions must not exceed 40*23 cm. 
• Only Wizz priority holders can bring their instruments on board 
• violins, violas, flutes, clarinets, trumpets, and ukuleles are the most common instruments which will be accepted on board 
• Accepted stored place in the passenger cabin is the overhead compartment 
• In case the bag is not under the dimension policy it will be considered as a checked baggage 
• For safety reasons, large size musical instruments shall be stored in one of the passenger seats, yet it will be away far from the emergency exit. 

Missing and damaged baggage 

Lost Baggage 

• Passengers who faced a delay or damaged baggage should report it immediately 
• Visit the baggage lost or damaged office at the airport and fill out the report
• If the baggage is not found in within 21 days, Wizz Air will be liable for compensation 

Damaged baggage

• In case baggage delivered to the passenger after the arrival date, the passenger can report any damage within 21 days 
• If the baggage is not properly packaged, then liability will be reduced
