The property is beautiful with lots of dining options. Our 2nd visit. Beautiful beach and multiple pool areas to choose from. We had some awesome dining experiences along with a couple unsatisfactory experiences. Rooms are very spacious. The property was always very clean but some areas a little dated. If you're in the back family section, it's about a 8 min walk to the beach but there are a couple pools right around the corner. Night life & entertainment is limited. Kid friendly.
We had a nice time there with our adults kids and grandkids.
Cons. Adult only rooms were older and electricity was out for days per other people while there and they didn’t offer a refund or to move to other rooms with AC and electricity working. Rooms were outdated and could use better care. Long walks from the family area to beach and large buffet. Buffett for lunch only open by the beach and none by the family pool and rooms. Free for all when the trolly came by making it hard for older adults and people with children to get on.
Pros. Nice drink menu for all inclusive. Buffet had a lot of options. Rooms were clean. Staff were friendly. Beach was great and clean with hardly any waves. Kids pool area offered fun for all ages.
Expedia shouldn’t show the pictures of the main pool and all the bars since you aren’t able to use all of them with the package they sell you. You need to be Royal elite and that’s for time share people only. I fell in love with the pool in the picture and wasn’t able to use it. Expedia needs to update the actual information of what they are selling you.
Pros
- staff super nice, my youngest broke his teeth day two and the buffet near us made him mashed potatoes
- lots of activities
Cons
-Nicest pools were adult only or re only
- husband got food poisonin day 5 and lasted more than a week
- while he had food poisonin we didnt have runnin water for half a day, complained and no one came. Turned on the tap in all taps and zero water
- long distance to walk to beach or for food and trolley was hard to get other ppl pushy
- food just average
- zero elevators worked in our building and we has to carry our wagon up and down each time
- blasting music at the family pool right outside our room everyday which some ppl enjoyed but wasnt our vibe
This was by far the worst all inclusive resort I’ve ever stayed in. The food was not good. I didn’t eat one thing that made me want to eat it again while there. The alcohol served to us was very cheap. We did not have our room cleaned for the first 2 days and had to actually call to request that it be cleaned. The water pressure in the showers was very low. Very few activities to participate in on the resort. We were suppose to receive wine in the room as Expedia VIP but never received it even after requesting it 3 times. We also had a spa credit that they wouldn’t accept at checkout when we paid for our spa services and stated that this credit would’ve had to be used at the time the spa service was booked. Animals, that appeared to be sickly monkeys and raccoons, were all around the resort going in people bags at the pools. I would never stay here again even if it was for free.

Great experience!
The beach at Sandos Playacar is probably its best quality - it is unmatched! The front family pool area is superb! The food here is also top-notch. Service is terrific.
We enjoyed the cupcake cafe and taco buffet also. The entertainment was pretty good.
Being there with kids, there is a large area of the resort they are not allowed. For us that was a bummer.
We didn’t use the upper pools much, they were cold. Possibility due to being shaded much of the afternoon.
