I absolutely loved this resort. The property was sooo beautiful, like something out of a magazine. I took my 2-year-old here for vacation and it had everything we needed. The resort does an amazing job catering to families with children and also people looking to party a bit. They had daily kids activities and my son loved the onsite water park. The rooms were comfortable and the resort felt safe overall. Some of the furniture/fixtures in the room were rusting and peeling. I'm not someone who cares too much about those details, but if you are, just beware. The food was typical resort food so nothing special, but there are many dining options in the area if you want to have a quality Curacaoan meal. I would definitely recommend this resort!
Curaçao as an island is beautiful and the people are welcoming. I encourage you you get off the resort to see the west side beaches. Would recommend Curaçao but not this resort,
The good: the resort is beautiful, there were always lounge chairs available by the pool and beach, you can walk to town, the Italian restaurant is pretty good and we were able to see turtles and fish snorkeling right off of the beach.
The struggle: our room wasn’t ready until over an hour after check-in and the elevator was broken so we had to carry our luggage up six flights of narrow stairs, the buffet food is mediocre at best, the dinner reservation system needs a reset (you can only make reservations at 10 am for the next day so the buffet is your only option the first two days), sushi restaurant has very little choice and the BBQ restaurant was never available (even after waiting in line for reservations), beds were made each day but the floor was not swept and we had to ask for soap to be refilled (never was fixed.)
Oh, this is gonna be a fun review to write :D I just left on the 21st, and stayed for about a week. It was my first time in Curacao, and I usually do all-inclusives when I go to island spots.
SO if your'e debating whether to visit this spot, just go ahead and book it now :) I had an amazing time. These are the main points:
1. Safety - I travel solo, so safety's super important as a young American female. I felt very secure here on site.
2. Check-in - Hassle-free and friendly, and a lot quicker than some resorts I've been to! No time-share garbage or anything like that.
3. The views. I booked a King Oceanfront Suite, and it was perfection. I'll post some pics if I'm able to.
4. The rooms. Bed was super comfy, good water pressure/temp in the shower, and quite spacious.
5. Beach access. This was one of the main points for my decision, and it was the right one. You dont have to go on a shuttle or golf cart just to get to the beach. It's right there.
6. Staff! The front desk folks were polite and helpful, and some individuals (Ray, Cumali) really went above and beyond to make sure my stay was pleasant and memorable.
7. And most importantly - Good Samaritan-ness. I lost my purse the first night (SO exhausted from traveling) and the next morning, someone had turned it in to the lost and found - without a single item missing.
Highly recommend :)
This was probably one of the worst vacations I’ve ever been on. The food was terrible. Off the resort it was only a little better. The WiFi didn’t work well, it took three hours for room service, the water got cut off, the beach is in unbearably rocky. The taxis were ridiculously expensive. I wish I had more positive things to say. The best thing I ate on the resort were chicken nuggets. There is NO PREMIUM liquor. Curacao will never see me again and I will never recommend a Carendon property in my life. I upgraded to the Rif and it was even worse……save your money
Overall displeased with stay but made the most of it. As walking into room the was a hole in the wall that was not properly patched up. Elevator was out of service every other day. Had to wait in line for an hour to get to special restaurants, no reservations. The buffet was a hit or miss. Family enjoyed international night with a large variety of food choices. Different cultures (staff) so may come across as rude for some people. Nice pool and decent beach kind of small. Reminded to have water shoes, very rocky. Hotel has loading dock for cruises so can be very busy at times. If looking for luxury this is not the place to go.
The rooms need renovated. We had to switch rooms because it was a hole in the wall, nasty marks on wall and door. It wasn’t appealing to look at while on vacation. Rooms needed detailed cleaning, our headboard had dust on it, mirrors were dirty, safety box was rusty. We had to keep requesting towel service after room cleaning. The staff seemed predominantly young and short of staff . The pool area were disgusting and the area was unsanitary . Food was almost in the water. Used cups were stacking along the pool line. Outside the pool bar, it’s only 1 other bar which was decent.
However the staff was friendly. The BBQ and Seafood dining was amazing. The breakfast hours are extended to 11am which is great. Dinner ends at 3am. Easy checkin and checkout. The resort has great potential to be the nicest on the island with a few upgrades and work.
