A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Qal'at Al-Bahrain is located on an artificial hill built over more than 4,000 years of human occupation. A significant archaeological site also known as Bahrain Fort, it features remains from around 2,300 BC to the 16th century BC and traces the Dilmun, Tylos and the Portuguese period.
