Checked Baggage

The Baggage allowance may vary depending on flight route and booking class:

  • The length + width + height should not exceed 158cm (per piece), 300cm (per weight).
  • Each piece of checked-in baggage should weigh no more than 32kg (70lb).
  • Flights from Dammam, the maximum dimension for each bag should not exceed 158 cm.
  • If you are booking a flight ticket that includes a code-share flight with another carrier, please reach us to confirm your baggage allowance.

Child Baggage

Check the following conditions for a safe flight according to the child's age with the applicable fare type.

  • Infants less than eight days old may be accepted to travel under certain conditions.

1. When travel is needed based on Medical Grounds, you should provide Qatar Airways Medical Centre approval using a MEDIF.

2- When the mother is needed to travel for compassionate grounds, She will have to bring a Certificate from a Qualified Pediatrician indicating the infant is fit to travel.

  • Each grown-up traveler shall be responsible for one infant while traveling with three infants during the flight.
  • One stroller, and collapsible carrycot is accepted without charge.
  • Children and newborns traveling on a child fare are eligible for the same baggage allowance as adults.

  • Flights between Qatar and Africa, the additional baggage charge per additional piece is 125 USD
  •  Flights between Qatar and Alexandria (HBE), the additional baggage fee per additional piece is 350 USD. For all other flights to and from Alexandria (HBE), the additional baggage fee per additional piece is 625 USD.
  • Flights to and from Buenos Aires and Brazil, the additional baggage fee per additional piece is 100 USD
  • Infants are entitled to one piece. Additional pieces will be charged on the adult ticket.
  • Flights to/from Africa, Argentina, Canada, Brazil, and the USA (rates per piece)

Security regulations for electronic devices (UK and USA)

Travelers on UK and USA-bound Qatar Airways flights departing or transiting from Hamad International Airport with personal electronic devices must follow the following guidelines.

UK-bound flights

  • Security staff will ask you to turn on personal electronic devices (except mobile phones), including tablets, e-books and laptops, during the security screening at the boarding gate.
  • Make sure your electronic device(s) has enough power to be switched on to show its functionality.
  • Devices with no power will be put in a secure location on the aircraft that cannot be accessed and returned at your final destination.
  • If you have more than six personal electronic devices that are already secured, you will have to check your device into your hand baggage.

USA-bound flights

  • All personal electronic devices carried on board from Doha are subject to enhanced security screening.
  • Few Examples of personal electronic devices that are subject to be asked for security screening include: DSLR camera | Radio | E-reader | Walkie-talkie | Laptop | Tablet | Water purifier | Large game console | Monitor| CD-ROM | Drone | Electric guitar | Printer and scanner.
  • Make sure your electronic device(s) has enough power to be switched on to show its functionality.
  • Consider packing your personal electronic devices which you do not intend to use on your flight into your check-in baggage.

Qatar Airways Special Baggage:

Passengers traveling on Qatar Airways should check some conditions regarding sports equipment, animals, falcons and musical instruments.

Sports equipment

  • Qatar Airways accepts any sporting equipment as checked baggage as mentioned on the ticket.
  • The sports equipment size of small or medium pieces should not exceed a dimension of 217 cm (length + width + height).
  • The sports equipment size of large pieces should not exceed a dimension of 300 cm (length + width + height).
  • Changes and Cancellations are allowed free of charge.
  • Sports equipment that exceeds the free allowance will be subject to extra baggage rates.
  • Regular additional baggage rates apply for sporting equipment allowance purchased at the airport.
  •  Bicycles may be carried as checked baggage or cargo but packed in a strong, custom-made cardboard box.
  • Surfboard, windsurfing and kayak equipment will be transported as checked baggage if they are less than three meters. If the items have greater lengths, they will be carried as Cargo.

  • The transportation of animals is subject to regulations in origin and destination countries either for transit or transfer.
  • In case of country restrictions on weight or carrier size, animal will be transported through Qatar Airways Cargo.

Musical instruments

Passengers are allowed to carry fragile musical instruments inside the cabin with purchase of a ticket for the seat they occupy. The maximum weight allowed is 75 kg and the maximum length is 120 cm.

Qatar Airways Restricted items:

Some conditions should be followed to ensure your flight safety measurements with international regulations.

Restricted objects and dangerous Items: 

  • The carriage of firearms and ammunition is not allowed in the passenger cabin and will be carried as checked baggage.
  •  Passengers should present a license for holding the firearm from the State that allows them to have it in their possession.
  • Ammunition should be securely packaged and not exceed a gross weight of 5kg.
  • all types of lithium batteries must meet international regulations of the UN Manual of Test and Criteria, Part III, subsection 38.3. 
  • E-Cigarettes are allowed in Hand baggage, but recharging the batteries is not allowed.
  • Passengers may carry portable electronic devices/ portable medical electronic devices containing lithium metal or lithium-ion batteries in hand and checked baggage with only a total of 02 spare lithium.
  • Passengers are not allowed to carry small vehicles powered by lithium batteries in their hand or checked baggage, even if the batteries are removed. Prohibited items include Hoverboards, Mini-Segways, E-scooter, Solowheels and Airwheels.
  • Passengers may carry alcoholic beverages in their hand and checked baggage if they contain less than 70% alcohol.
  • The maximum quantity of alcoholic beverages carried by each passenger is 5 liters. 
  • Passengers may carry liquids and gels in containers up to 100ml in hand baggage.
  • Containers larger than 100ml are not allowed and should be carried in a transparent, resealable, quart- or liter-sized bag.
  • Medical devices are allowed in checked and hand baggage only with specific regulations followed by Qatar Airways restrictions.
