Visa requirements
  • All Emirates of the UAE are welcoming tourists from around the world. Fully vaccinated travellers who have a certificate indicating they have received full doses of any vaccine approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO) or the UAE, with a readable QR code, do not need to present a pre-travel COVID-19 test result. Some passengers may be required to undergo a rapid PCR test upon arrival at the airport. Travellers are also advised to get their vaccination status verified through the ICA platform or Al Hosn application.
  • Unvaccinated travellers must either present a negative result of a PCR test taken no more than 48 hours before travel that contains a QR code, or a certificate of recovery that has been obtained within a month before the travel date and contains a QR code.
  • For more information on testing and quarantine requirements, please visit the "COVID-19 test" and "Quarantine upon arrival" sections.
  • Rules for Dubai
    • Travellers flying to Dubai may still be required to follow these additional rules:
      • Download and register their details on the COVID-19 DXB Smart App.
  • Additional requirements for tourists:
    • For tourists, getting medical travel insurance is also mandatory prior to travel in case they don't have international heath insurance.
  • Additional requirements for returning residents:
    • Returning residents with Dubai visas who want to arrive at Dubai airport will need to get approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) by submitting a form on its website to be able to come back. Those arriving at Dubai airport with visas issued by other Emirates need to get approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship's (ICA) website.
    • Visa holders of Emirates other than Dubai should also visit uaeentry.ica.gov.ae and submit their passport number and Emirates ID number to verify their visa validity. They will need to present a photocopy of their passport and UAE residence visa upon arrival.
  • Rules for Abu Dhabi and other Emirates
  • Travellers flying into Abu Dhabi and other Emirates may be required to follow these additional rules:
    • If they are arriving at Abu Dhabi airport, they no longer need to obtain approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) to be able to return. However, if they are arriving at Dubai airport, they still need to get approval from the ICA website if their residence visa has been issued by any Emirate other than Dubai, or from the GDRFA website if they have a Dubai visa. Those arriving at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, also do not need to obtain prior approval. According to Air Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain residence visa holders arriving at Sharjah airport still need to obtain ICA approval, but those with visas from other Emirates do not. However, there hasn't been an official announcement from authorities regarding this yet.
  • Unvaccinated Emirati nationals and nationals who hadn’t received the booster dose are allowed to travel abroad, provided that they undergo a PCR test 48 hours before their departure. Learn more here.
